MYTH VS. FACT
DEBUNKING COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT IMMIGRANTS AND REFUGEES IN THE U.S.
Disinformation and hateful rhetoric about immigrants and refugees are everywhere...on social media, in political speeches, on the news, and beyond. Global Refuge knows the truth: immigrants and refugees make the United States a better place. Not only is welcoming newcomers the right thing to do, it's the wise thing to do. Don't believe what you read–get the facts.

thanks to volunteers, Nassau St. House gets an upgrade in time for a Ukrainian family.
September 27, 2022
What a Blessing!
We are finally using our Nassau St. House for its intended purpose: to be lived in.
After 2 months of feverish work, volunteers are just about ready to host a family from the Ukraine. Generous donations of time, talent and treasure have been pouring in from church members, family, friends, other churches and businesses. Pastor Cline has reached out to many in her network of MNYS aquaintances and people are rising to the occasion. We are very excited to be helping a family escaping war in the Ukraine. We hope that they can find peace and solace for themselves and their family. What an amazing opportunity for us at Christ Lutheran Church Islip Terrace to truly do God's work.
Peanut Butter & Jelly Ministry
Did You Know ... each week our peanut butter and jelly ministry makes between 150 and 170 sandwiches and delivers them to Mercy Soup Kitchen in Wyandanch to fee the hungry on Long Island? To do this, we go through about 17 loaves of bread, 8 jumbo jars of creamy peanut butter, 6 jars of grape jelly, 200 fold-over sandwich bags, and disposable gloves each week! We also use covered Xerox boxes for delivery.
You can help by donating any fo the items above as often as you can. If you would like to volunteer to be part of the "gang", please contact Doreen Andersson at 631-224-1071. It only take 1-2 hours, every 5-6 weeks. With everyone's help, we can be successful!
Each year, church members gather and help clean up the community.
In Sept 2022 we gathered to clean up around Knapp's lake at Brookwood Hall.
Groups worked around the church, revitalizing gardens and repaired a much-needed handy-cap ramp.
We were joined by some members of Cub Scout Pack 38!
